Dr. Corisande Baldwin, MSc, MD, FRCPC (she/her)

Dr. Corisande Baldwin is a rheumatologist practicing in Victoria, British Columbia. She is Royal College certified in both Internal Medicine and Adult Rheumatology and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology. Dr. Baldwin is involved in the Island Medical Program and provides both clinical and didactic medical education to medical students and residents. Dr. Baldwin has a special interest in Systemic Vasculitis and runs the Vancouver Island Vasculitis Clinic (VIVa) at the Victoria Arthritis Centre. She attends a combined rheumatology-ophthalmology uveitis clinic at Royal Jubilee Hospital. She also provides inpatient consultation services to the Royal Jubilee and Victoria General Hospitals and provides on-call advice through the South Island RACE line. Dr. Baldwin completed her Adult Rheumatology (2014) training at the UBC in Vancouver and completed a 6 month clinical fellowship in Systemic Vasculitis at the University of Toronto. She practiced for 4 years at the University of Calgary in Alberta and has been practicing in Victoria since 2019.

Dr. Baldwin works at Island Rheumatology on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Dr. David Shaw, MSc, MD, FRCPC (he/him)

Dr. David Shaw is a rheumatologist practicing in Victoria, British Columbia. He is Royal College certified in Internal Medicine and Adult Rheumatology and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia, Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology. Dr. Shaw is affiliated with the Island Medical Program, through which he teaches and organizes clinical rheumatology electives for medical students and residents. He also oversees the rheumatology clinical research program at Percuro Clinical Research. He provides inpatient consultation services to the Royal Jubilee and Victoria General Hospital and provides on-call advice through the South Island RACE program. Dr. Shaw completed his Adult Rheumatology (2015) at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. He has been practicing in Victoria, British Columbia since 2016.

Dr. Shaw works at Island rheumatology Mondays - Wednesday and Fridays.

Jeniffer Bonifacio (she/her)

Jeniffer is originally from Guatemala, and grew up in Vancouver and Victoria since the age of 9 years old. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from The University of Victoria and obtained Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing in 2020 from Camosun/University of Victoria. She joined the Island Rheumatology team in August 2021. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and young son. As a nurse, she enjoy working alongside patients and providing them with the information that will help them make well informed decisions that are suitable to their lifestyle.

Jeniffer is currently on maternity leave as of March 2023 - we wish her well and look forward to her return in 2024!

Jessica Wilford, Registered Nurse (she/her)

Jessica is originally from Australia but grew up in Victoria. Jessica graduated from Camosun/University of Victoria in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She joined Dr. Baldwin and Dr. Shaw in March 2019 and has followed them to Island Rheumatology in 2020.

Jessica enjoys sharing health and wellness information with patients to help them make the well-informed choices that fit their lifestyles. She is knowledgeable about patient education related to diseases, medications, and other social determinants of health.

Jessica works in the office Monday - Thursday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.


Shimen Fayad, Medical Office Assistant to Dr. Baldwin (she/her)

Shimen was born in Saskatchewan but grew up on the island. She completed her Bachelors of Sociology at California State University Fullerton on a full ride scholarship playing volleyball. After graduating university in 2018, she moved back to Victoria and finished her MOA training through Camosun. Shimen joined Dr. Baldwin’s team in May 2022 and runs the day-to-day aspects of the clinic. In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors and being creative.

Shimen is dedicated to ensuring the best patient experience possible. If you have any questions or concerns about your appointment or care, please feel free to approach Shimen. She works in the office Mondays through Thursdays and answers the phones from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.



Vaishnavi (“Vee”) Gajjar, Medical Office Assistant to Dr. Shaw (she/her)

Vee is originally from India, moved to Toronto, Canada in 2020, and then to Victoria, BC in 2023 with her husband. She completed a bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Gujarat University and has completed both a medical laboratory technician degree and an MOA diploma from through St. Clair College, Ontario. Vee enjoys art and is an avid painter.

Vee is committed to ensuring all her patients get exceptional patient care. She works at the office from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
