Virtual Care

Telehealth Appointments

A virtual (or telehealth) appointment replaces an in-person appointment in clinic. These appointments are conducted through a secure connection. Dr. Baldwin’s appointments are conducted through her Plexia EMR. Dr. Shaw’s appointments are done through DoxyMe. The servers for both platforms are located in Canada. Please ensure you have booked time away from work and other responsibilities and that you take time to ensure you have both space and privacy for a limited physical examination. Please log into your appointment 5 minutes prior to the scheduled time. Ensure your camera and microphone are on and that your camera is correctly oriented towards you. It is a good idea to log in the night prior to ensure you have the correct set-up. If you unable to connect through the telehealth platform, you will receive a telephone call from your rheumatologist - please ensure you are in proximity to a telephone, for which we have the number, and that the volume is on. Due to technical issues, we may be running behind schedule and we apologize in advance.

Consistent with the position paper of the Canadian Rheumatology Association, Drs Baldwin and Shaw continue to provide care using Telehealth appointments and will continue to do so in appropriate circumstances.

Please note, that Jessica Wilford or Jeniffer Bonifacio, our nurses, may call prior to your appointment to update your chart and review your medications for your rheumatologist. Please be prepared to answer blocked calls as our nurse may be working from home.

Missed appointments will be subject to no-show fees as with regular in-office appointments.

DR. BALDWIN

The following is required for virtual/telehealth appointments through Dr. Baldwin’s Clinic:

  • A web-browser - Google Chrome works best but Safari also works.

  • Access to wifi or wired internet - please note that you using cellular data on your phone without a wifi connection often results in poor quality connection.

  • Please note, when Dr. Baldwin’s is ringing in, you may not hear an audible ring sound - please be patient and frequently check the screen.
